Google Reader has been my #1 source for news aggregation in an easy and quick way to peruse through the news. Sure, RSS is old and simple, but it is a very powerful tool in finding the required information without actually visiting the site. It even triumphs over the socially saturated media by allowing the user to customize what he or she wants to view.
Upon speculation, one of the reasons could be that Google Reader has very few opportunities for a company to harvest user information and sell it for money such as Facebook, Twitter, or Google Plus. Another possibility is that the majority of users can already be found on these social networks. With the increasing popularity of Google Plus, one would be less inclined to maintain a lesser popular items with less corporate benefits. Thankfully there are a few alternatives available as online readers.
As of now, I am currently investigating Feedly and “The Old Reader”. Feedly is good for the trendy peeps out there that like streamlined interfaces. Unfortunately, Feedly requires the user to install their add-on for any pc Web browser. It is also highly doubtful that Linux Web browser variants are supported such as uzbl, luakit, jumanji, etc. The Old Reader is shaping up to be a great alternative since it strives to emulate the old Google Reader with additional enhancements. The user has grown large enough that the developer has announced plans for an android app in the future.
Between the two, The Old Reader looks to be more transparent and considerate of the users such that it does not intrude one’s news feed with its own recommendations. Plus, this reader allows the option for the user to quickly skim through the articles by titles. In short, I’ll be using Feedly on the tablet until The Old Reader comes out with their own app. On pc, I would recommend the latter since Feedly requires additional installation.
Within the past week, I have been plagued with misfortune. A friendship was lost, a console and its save data broken and corrupted, a relative died, and a car crash in the family. As we all know it, the world moves on with disregard to the woes of the individual. Sympathy can sometimes help ease the pain, but it can also aggravate the victim. Empathy is more useful in this case, since both parties can relate to each other. As much as I want to blame myself and carry these pains to the grave, I ask the victims I have done wrong to forgive me as I would for those who have done me wrong. As I see it now, I must move forward into world and learn to prevent past mistakes and misfortunes to repeat itself from here on out. I bear no grudges against anyone, for they benefit nobody except for petty self-satisfaction.
More old news since July 01,2010. Due to mediafire deciding to drop/purge one of the evil empire’s main uploader member, over 3,000 files had broken links (including manga and anime). In the latest announcement, Evil empire is looking for willing uploaders to help restore the broken file links destroyed by mediafire. So far, there has been great progress in restoring those missing file links, but Evil Empire could still love to have more contributors.
Other old news is that the Evil Empire moved to a new forum infrastructure so please be patient with the blue-white forum until the dark and evil forum skin is finished. Also, there has already been another member purging within the last few months, but has come to pass. The rules are still the same as before. As long as one maintains active status within the forum (1 post every 2-3months?), that respective account will not be deleted.
Nothing else has changed, so drop by the forum and enjoy being an empire knight.
The gracious admin of Evil Empire has decided to lower the post count to seven non-spam posts. This means a post that is constructive and at least more than 30 words.
Also, the 60 days of inactivity (non-posting) still applies as of now. On December 15th, the admin will perform a mass deletion of accounts. Therefore, one should make a post anywhere in the forum to keep their accounts for a very nice Christmas, otherwise tough luck – get used to it.
The patch was released just today from mirror moon. I just gave it a test run and there seems to be no issues so far. At least now anyone who doesn’t know japanese can enjoy this great fighter game to its fullest extent.
The very prestigious visual novel “Fate/Stay Night” made by Nasu (same creator of Tsukihime) has been fully translated by Mirror Moon. Since I have been very impressed by the polished animations and looks for this visual novel, I recommend this to those who have seen the anime adaptation of this visual novel or faintly remember the awesomeness of the Tsukihime visual novel.
Also, the hard working people at Mirror Moon made a quick fix application to properly fuse in the voices from the Realta Nualta PS2 disc to enhance the experience. Regardless, the visual novel should be a enjoyable read for those new and experienced.
As a bit of caution, these visual novels are bound to Hentai scenes but can be quickly fast-forwarded or skipped. Frankly, none of these should prevent one from reading this great piece of work.
Again, please buy the visual novel to support their work. Also, give your regards to Mirror Moon for donating their time. 😛

As of October 8th 2008, the evil empire forums have come back online. This is good news for just about the whole public, excluding companies and such. For those who seem to hate DDLs or forums in general, stick with your usual methods (IRC) rather than being a prick to those who do not like IRC or just find it inconvenient. Anyway, one can find the site back at its original website address. Same rules apply before the site was razed to the ground.
