So last Thursday was an IV day for my nursing class. We got to poke IV’s into each other and have fun with it. I got poked seven times, I poked the other guy four times.
One thing I really didn’t understand about the IV thing was that you have to sign up to get poked with a partner, but if your partner messes up you’re the one who gets poked again and again. Which means that if you have a bad poking partner you’re basically going to get poked a lot of times. This is not good for those of you with week veins or are feint of heart.
Nursing is a grind, I had to get poked seven times, and each miss resulted in him digging around with the needle under my skin. My advice… get a good partner. But being the one who pokes is fun, because poking someone’s vein and seeing the blood flow is awesome. Here’s a video on IV’s.
