WinXP Pro Performance Edition Dec-08 is most excellent

This is multilingual and contains no drivers.

I have been using this for atleast 2 weeks now and I am very satisfied with how the creator of this distro decided which parts needed to be stripped out or substituted. This release has a few minor fixes and no longer contain any errors during the installation phase (funi.dll). To keep things short and simple, here’s a link to the torrent and its list of updates.

WinXP Performance Edition Oct. 08 is Delicious

This version includes all languages and all keyboard layouts.

After 2 weeks of usage, this version is, by far, the best xp distribution I have encountered as of now. Foreign applications (provided that the selected language is installed) works without any complications and at their utmost efficiency. Also, the image file is only 242mb. Remember that this will initially install English and that any other language will need to be installed afterwards. However, keep in mind that this distribution contains no drivers. Therefore, keep those driver discs that came with the PC (or the internet) on hand or the geniune XP disc for drivers.

Booting XP took less than 5 seconds for me (dual-core AMD pc with one gig of DDR2 ram).  With East Asian languages installed, foreign programs worked flawlessly except for “Concealed the Conclusion” (a doujin game).

Check the link below for more information on what has been taken out and a link to the torrent.

Windows XP Performance Edition April 08

Although this version is not as lean or small-form factor as the sept 08 edition, east asian languages work right out of the box without any hiccups.  This version of XP is most likely what the retail version should be.  This installation comes with firefox 2.0 preinstalled.  So far, I have not encountered any issues with programs or processes.  Therefore, this XP is worthy to have on cd rather than a rewritable, since there are very little to no complaints to dock it.  So if one is simply sick of all these new xp editions, one can always fall back to this one.

XP SP3 Performance Edition Sept. 2008 is good…

XP SP3 09/08 edition

XP SP3 09/08 edition

*NOTE* This is the English version only.

For the most part, this revision of XP is one of the best within its series. Boot times are minimal (~10secs or less) However, this edition does not have a multilingual counterpart and has issues with some applications such as GOM player, KMplayer, iTunes. Also, applocale seems to fail miserably even with the east Asian languages installed. On the other hand, I have tested this OS on a few games and they run perfectly fine.

I am planning to test the April multilingual version sometime this month to see if there are any application hiccups or problems with foreign programs.
